Living Waters: Longest Night Service

All are invited to a “Longest Night” observance in this Advent Season. Also known as “Blue Christmas,” this Living Waters service will take place on the Monday before the winter solstice—the longest night. It acknowledges that, for many, the Christmas season is one where loneliness and sorrow mingle with joy and peace. Surrounded by the community of hope, we will lift our prayers and our mixed emotions in worship of God, whose Son is “risen with healing in his wings.”

Boar's Head and Yule Log Festival

The Boar’s Head and Yule Log Festival, in its twelfth incarnation at Third Church this year, is an Epiphany gift from our congregation to the community. It brings the Christmas season to an official close with one last blast of festivity, pageantry, and carol singing! It is a wonderful blend of secular celebration dating to 14th century England, complete with a Royal Court and all the trappings of that scene. Along with that are processions of those sharing the news of Epiphany, or the manifestation of Christ to the world. The Holy Family is greeted by shepherds and wise men bringing gifts - and all of the festival is infused with music - by the choir and instrumental ensemble, soloists and audience! Plan now to attend one or both performances of this great Epiphany Festival - and invite your friends to join you!

A festive reception will follow each performance of the Boar’s Head and Yule Log Festival - in Celebration Center!

Doors open 45 minutes early each day and pre-Festival music begins 30 minutes early!  ► more

Boar‘s Head Needs You!. Would you like to help bake for the festive reception? Click here for a handy sheet with recipes and a form to let us know that you can help! Thank you!

Upcoming Membership Event

Sunday, December 10, 12:00 - 1:30 pm

Exploring Membership Luncheon

Four times a year, we host these luncheons designed for people new to the congregation to learn more about life and ministry at Third Church. We eat together and have conversation that introduces you to our community, gives you a chance to ask questions, and lets you get to know our pastoral staff, a few members of the church, and other folks new to this place. Attending a luncheon carries no obligation for you to join in membership; the emphasis is on exploring.

Our luncheon conversation will conclude at 1:30pm. For those that are ready to join in membership, the next step is a New Member Gathering offered at two different times (1) that same afternoon following the luncheon from 1:30-2:30pm, or (2) on new member Sunday one week later, December 17, at 8:30am.

For more information, contact Lynette Sparks (271-6513 ext. 106) or lsparks@thirdpresbyterian.org.
