Advocating for Justice

How terrible it will be for those who make unfair laws, and those who write laws that make life
hard for people. They are not fair to the poor, and they rob my people of their rights. They allow
people to steal from widows and to take from orphans what really belongs to them.
Isaiah 10:1-2

Advocacy at Third Church is more of a process than a standing committee; it is about taking action(s) to create the kind of world and community that Jesus wants us to have. Most members of the congregation are involved in advocating for social justice and fairness for all in some capacity. Jesus stated clearly his expectations for our behavior toward others—especially to those in need. The advocacy efforts at Third Church give direction and support to our members as they seek to give voice to those long silenced. “We do as we are able ... knowing we are able to do.”
